Autumn · warm, earthy & rich
The Autumn color palette is warm, muted and rich: terracotta, olive, mustard, deep teal and chocolate, softened by cream, sand and camel.
In color analysis, Fall and Autumn are the same season. If your skin has a golden or olive warmth and your coloring looks rich rather than bright, these are the colors that make you look healthy and grounded.

Signature
American stylists often say Fall, British and most color-analysis books say Autumn. "Color analysis fall", "fall color palette" and "autumn color palette" all describe the same personal season. The same applies to the sub-seasons: Soft Fall is Soft Autumn, Warm Fall is True Autumn and Dark Fall is Deep Autumn.
One thing the season is not: a palette for fall decor, leaves or wedding flowers. An Autumn person wears these colors all year — a rust sweater in January and an olive linen dress in July.
Temperature
From cool to warm, the same green changes character. Autumn lives at the golden end — but always slightly muted.
Cool & clearWarm & bright
Too far left and the color turns icy; too far right and it becomes a Spring-bright lime. Autumn’s greens are olive, moss, forest and pine — warm, earthy and slightly smoky.
Who is an Autumn
Autumn skin ranges from fair with golden freckles to deep with a warm bronze glow; many Autumns have an olive or golden-beige undertone. Hair is often auburn, copper, chestnut, golden brown or dark brown with warm highlights. Eyes are warm brown, hazel, topaz, olive green or teal.
The coloring reads rich and blended. Autumns rarely look their best in high-shine, high-contrast combinations; they glow in textured, matte, earthy materials — suede, tweed, linen, wool.
A useful mirror test: hold a rust or terracotta scarf next to a fuchsia one. If the rust makes your skin look even and warm while the fuchsia makes it look gray or flushed, you are probably an Autumn.
Clothing
Use brown and olive where other seasons use black and gray. Layer texture; wear the warmest color near the face.

Olive jacket over a cream knit with toffee boots.
Chocolate suit with a terracotta blouse — softer than black and white.
Deep teal silk with antique gold jewelry and a warm aubergine wrap.
Wear with care
Wear with care: Icy pink
Try instead: Peach Beige
Icy pastels are too cool and light; warm peach beige keeps softness without the chill.
Wear with care: Fuchsia
Try instead: Rust
Blue-based pinks clash with golden skin. Rust or warm brick give the same punch.
Wear with care: Optic white
Try instead: Cream
Pure white can look stark against warm, muted coloring.
Wear with care: Royal blue
Try instead: Petrol
Saturated cool blues overpower; petrol or deep teal are the Autumn blues.
Makeup & metals
Brick, cinnamon and terracotta; brown-based nudes rather than pink ones.
Bronze, copper and olive lids; warm brown or olive liner.
Matte or brushed gold, brass, copper and bronze. Tortoiseshell frames are an easy win.

Short answers to the questions people ask most about this topic.
Warm, muted and earthy colors: terracotta, rust, burnt orange, mustard, olive, moss, forest green, deep teal and petrol, with cream, sand, camel, toffee and chocolate as neutrals.
Yes. Fall and Autumn are interchangeable names for the same season, and Soft Fall, Warm Fall and Dark Fall are the same as Soft, True and Deep Autumn.
Autumns have warm or olive undertones, medium to deep coloring and a rich, muted look. Rust, olive and gold flatter; icy pastels, fuchsia and pure white look harsh.
Deep Autumns can wear black more easily than Soft Autumns. Most Autumns look better in chocolate, espresso, deep olive or charcoal-brown near the face.
Both are warm. Autumn is deeper and more muted; Spring is lighter and clearer. Autumn wears olive and rust, Spring coral and turquoise.
Warm, earthy shades: brick and terracotta lips, peach-bronze blush, and bronze, copper or olive eyeshadow.
