Find Your Personal Color Palette

Your personal color palette is a set of colors — usually 24 to 36 — that share the warmth, depth and clarity of your natural coloring. It is the practical result of color analysis: the thing you take shopping.

Here is how to find your color palette, how to read one, and how to actually use it.

How to read a color palette

Every palette has three layers. Here they are, using the Soft Autumn palette as an example.

Neutrals — 60% of a wardrobe

Coats, trousers, shoes, bags. They replace black, white and gray if those do not suit you.

Core colors — 30%

Tops, knits and dresses — the colors you wear near your face.

Accents — 10%

Scarves, jewelry, a bag or a lipstick.

How to use your palette

Shopping: save your palette as a phone wallpaper or a screenshot of HEX codes (each palette on this site lets you copy them). Compare in store daylight, not under fitting-room lights.

Matching: a color does not have to be an exact match. If it is the same temperature, similar depth and similar clarity as a palette color, it belongs.

Combining: pick one neutral, one core color and optionally one accent. Two colors that sit close together in the palette always work.
